RB Rich Lyke Me wins at Dubai World Cup and confirms Bahrain's Equestrian dominance

Over the 1600m dirt course and distance as the Thoroughbred version, the Purebred Arabian equivalent, the Group 1 Al Maktoum Challenge R1 was won, as it was last year, by RB Rich Lyke Me, soon in front under Adrie de Vries, riding in the colours of Victorious for Fawzi Nass.

Once in front they were probably never headed and had the race in the bag early in the straight, smashing the track record in the process.

De Vries said: “He is a very smart horse but nothing really went right for him in his two races after he won this last year.”

Nass, who part owns the 7yo entire added: “We were very confident to be honest but it is always a relief when they get the job done.”

HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, expressed happiness at the victory of RBH Lyike Me, owned by the Victorious team, at the Dubai World Cup's first round of the Al Maktoum Challenge. 

The round was the opening race of the Dubai World Cup and proved Victorious' superiority in international competitions. Commenting on the new success, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa underlined that the Dubai World Cup is among the major championships worldwide given the wide participation it features year-in, year-out, adding that the Bahraini equestrian is moving steadily towards further development and prosperity as this new accomplishment underscores the high capabilities and abilities of the Kingdom.

Moreover, HH Shaikh Nasser praised Fawzi Nass for preparing RBH Lyke Me ahead of the race, applauding the efforts of jockey Adrie De Vries. It's worth noting that RBH Like Me stormed to victory in the one-mile race following an incredible performance that outclassed the other participants.
